Does CoreESIM function while a cruise ship is at sea?

Updated April 22, 2026

CoreESIM operates by connecting to terrestrial cellular towers. Consequently, when a cruise ship is navigating in open waters, beyond the range of land-based networks, your CoreESIM service will not be active. Mobile connectivity at sea typically relies on satellite-based shipboard systems, which are distinct from standard eSIM services. However, CoreESIM will immediately connect to local networks upon docking at any port of call, such as in Nassau or Grand Turk, restoring full data functionality.
